W.I.L. Finance Digest Archives
Education and information from the front lines.
These pages are no longer being updated, but are are being left in place for archival purposes. Low viewership and the short shelf life of the posted items militated in favor of that decision. However, as was the case before 2004, investing and economics-related items are again included in Offshore News Digest postings.
Our intention is to help investors understand the financial world at a deeper level than is available from so-called analysis courtesy of the mainstream media and Wall Street talking heads. We aim to help people think critically in the often disorderly world of investment opportunities and pitfalls, where sloppy analysis, information overload and outright misinformation are the rule.
[Note: The below was written, except for some nonessential rewording, in 2004 when we started this digest. The forecast day of reckoning and the accompanying all-too hard landing did finally arrive in, roughly speaking, 2008. It is more urgent than ever that you diversify the currency and jurisdiction of your assets ... while this is achievable.]
The investing worldview that heavily influences our article selections is as follows:
A not-so-subtle hint of “gloom and doom” pervades this orientation, but preparation given by gloom now can mean avoiding gloom later. And by “preparation” we emphatically mean having some or all of your liquid assets offshore.
[When the trend reversal did arrive, the only assets that did not get hammered were cash and gold.]
